AV-Test has once again tested several protection packages for Android and compared their operation with Google Play Protect, which is a function built into the Play Store. Again, its performance was rated very low by AV-Test. However, the list includes such antiviruses that have collected the maximum number of points.
AV-Test has again selected the best Android antiviruses that have been identified during thorough tests. The programs were evaluated against three criteria. It’s protection, usability and functions. A maximum of 6 points could be obtained in the first two and 1 point in the last.
The antivirus tested by AV-Test could therefore get a maximum of 13 points. Only a few packages succeed: Avast Mobile Security, AVG AntyVirus Free, Bitdefender Mobile Security, Kaspersky Internet Security for Android, McAfee Mobile Security, Sophos Mobile Security, Symantec Norton Mobile Security and Trend Micro Mobile Security. Details of the ratings can be found below.
As you can see, AV-Test poorly rated Google Play Protect. The function scored only three points, so not much. She obtained them only in the category of usability, where, however, she did not get high marks. However, please note that this is not a standard protection package that can be installed on your phone, but a function built into the Play Store.
AV-Test has also recently refreshed its own antivirus rankings for Windows and macOS. In this case, products were tested for both home users and the enterprise sector.
Remember also that anti-virus is worth protecting not only a smartphone or tablet, but also, and perhaps above all, a desktop computer.
